Zagreb - designing the smart city

We held the first design thinking workshop where top engineers, designers, researchers and analysts from leading IT companies tried to come up with smart city solutions to improve the quality of transport in Zagreb.

JUNE 17, 2016

Design Thinking Studio EPH, created by Native Ad Studio EPH and 52:HOURS, in partnership with Zagrebački Holding, organised a workshop Zagreb - Smart City in order to create digital solutions that would enable citizens of Zagreb a smooth interaction with public services and to increase the awareness of the importance of design thinking when creating human-centered products and services.

We had four multi-disciplinary teams from Ericsson Nikola Tesla, Ernst & Young, Microsoft, Span, Trilix, IBM, Fakultet elektrotehnike i računarstva, Degordian, Size, Jutarnji list and EPH Digital tackling one challenge: How to improve the quality of transport through digital technology for the citizens of Zagreb.

We led the teams through a well-structured process of identifying the problem, research and citizen interviews, analysis, ideation, prototyping and user-testing and ended up with four digital solutions that address four critical areas: parking, transport, traffic information and citizen engagement.

All four solutions are up for vote by the citizens of Zagreb and the winning solution will be implemented by Zagrebački Holding.

The workshop was organised by Design Thinking Studio EPH in partnership with 52:HOURS and collaboration with SapientNitro and IBM Design Thinking Studio.

Head on to and vote for your favorite solution.
